"Scaling new heights in AI among the peaks of Lugano"
The SmartCHANGE General Assembly is taking place at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in Lugano, Switzerland, from 19 to 20 May 2026.
Hosted by the Faculty of Informatics at the modern Campus Est, this meeting brings together our international partners to evaluate the project's progress and solidify our technical and clinical foundations as we move deeper into our final stages.
Agenda highlights
- Tuesday 19 May: Full-day consortium meeting featuring project status updates, proof-of-concept findings from our study sites in Slovenia, Finland, Taiwan, and the Netherlands, and a deep dive into our applications prototype. The afternoon focuses on the technical core of the project, including data harmonisation, federated learning, and the implementation of explainable and trustworthy AI.
- Wednesday 20 May: The second day shifts to our long-term goals. We will map out our joint publications, discuss the exploitation strategy for the SmartCHANGE apps, and finalise our AI risk-prediction recommendations. We’ll wrap up with a management session to align on the final steps for the next six months.
Outside the meeting room, the lakeside setting gives us a chance to catch up properly and talk through technical hurdles in a more relaxed environment. As we move from data processing to delivering actual results, these two days in Lugano are essential for making sure everything we’ve built works together seamlessly.
